Our Mailboxes (lots of birthday cards came in the one on the left.)
We know you asked for a lot of pictures of our snowy days, so we took some more...
See how the tree draped over our driveway!
The trees draped over the wires and were buzzing and zapping, with sparks and smoke. We still have power. Our power company is really inaccessible right now- 250,000 people have no power. They called in 140 crews from out of area to help restore power. At my brothers an hour south of here they got more ice, they have no power and trees came down everywhere.
She's running along and laughing because I'm getting a sled ride!
He doesn't have to run and all he has to do to get a drink of snow is to do this.
Then Daddy came to meet us and helped pull the sled until we got to our house.
This is our new street. I know you can't see the street, but it's under there somewhere.
Home, Sweet Home! (Well, home, sweet, dusty, echoey, masked-up home.)
But see what happened on the driveway!
The tree became so heavy with ice it tipped over and blocked most of the driveway. Then Marc cut down the branches when I was sanding. (Ma, if Amber gets married and has her portrait in front of the stair, if necessary, I will personally care for the banister myself! But it will not be necessary- Marc would do it!)
-dusty!
This is the view from the study. The kids got to know a few of the neighbors. The ones in the gray house next door have two little girls about Amber's age or younger I think. So far all we know about them is that they let the girls jump on the bed and that they love each other a lot.
Here is the view from the other study window, looking straight down on the street. Our kids are getting to know the neighbor boys Henry (11) and Pete (7) who feel very comfortable playing in our yard, which surprised our kids a lot, but who can blame the neighbor boys- they've probably been playing in our yard for the last 6 months. No one was here. But they seem to be nice boys and they made the neatest little ice cave in the yard and our kids enjoyed playing in that.
It didn't stop snowing all day.
Even here there are snowflakes everywhere but the camera did not pick them up without the flash.
Amber's turn for a ride!
The long walk to our little home. The snow was deep from the snow plows that threw it all on the sidewalks.
We'll post more and more about our house (the inside at least!) very soon.
Now we'll have our evening reading...
And then bed! Jet lag is still a tiny bit with us, though now things are very normal.
